Bout time something cheery happened.

For the last couple of weeks I have been, to put it politely, rather cranky. After my mini-meltdown at work just before the holiday, my mood has gradually mellowed to a general sulleness. But something fun happened at lunch today. I went to a nearby park to kill the hour and noticed . . . a man in a full bite suit on the soccer field. Next to ( Read more... )

It would have been nice to find out who they were and more about the training process, even if mine are oh-so-no-suited for the sport.

On the upside, your Boo Boo Doggie, (exhibit A), won't try to eat your face in your sleep. ;D

Good sport dogs (and working police dogs, too) aren't vicious at all. They're basically trained to bite the suit, and if you aren't wearing one, they generally couldn't care less about you (although police dogs are trained further so they'll go after anyone -- suit or no -- on command). I got a cursory glance from each of the dogs as they went by at a distance of about 5 feet, but beyond that I wasn't interesting in the least.

These dogs were having a great time, and the decoy (the guy in the suit) was gentle and very encouraging as they were trying their best to drag him off somewhere. It's like he's a giant chew toy.

There are a ton of doggies in our neighbourhood, so I'm having puppy longings again. I saw a woman walking some giant thing that looked like a polar bear this week -- turns out it's a rather elderly Great Pyrenees. Total furriness! :sigh: Still kind of longing for a German Shepherd though... But FIRST must come the Kitten to torment Mack!

Tonka is soooo cute! You are always welcome to come over and torment my boys-- they deserve it!
