"For ages Indian youth has been repressing his sexual desires and that's why the crime rates are so high. In Scandinavia, the crime rate is zero per cent because they are free and liberated."

- Uday Chopra, actor, social theorist & idiot

I think the WTF-ness of the quote is undeniable, though. Scandinavia, zero % crime rate?! Bzuh?

I laughed so hard when I first read it, as a part justification for why Neil'N'Nikki was made.. Also the question where Uday was asked why Tanisha wears so little in the movie, he replied, "Her character is part Canadian, she dresses according to her culture." Mmm Canadian culture and their skimpy miniskirts.

Not so much wrong per se as an odd way of looking at things, I'd say. Idealistic view of Scandinavia, too. Also just the context - he was basically talking about why a film of his "needed" to be made - about a guy who wants to sleep with 21 chicks before his arranged marriage. The film was a flop, though at the core it was pretty conservative a love story.. Though the whole thing reeked of an excuse to have this guy make out with girls on-screen.
