I'm starting to wonder - how do you tell if someone is an alternate version of you, an alternate version of someone you're related to, or they only have the same face?

There have been alternates of the same people that didn't have the same face on board the ship at the same time. So, anything is possible I figure.

Well, there's case 1 scenario, where two people come in from different universes at different ages. Both Captain Kirk and Spock have been here at different ages.

Case 2. There's the same guy with different personas from the same universe. The Doctor. The Master. More than one can be here at the same time.

Case 3. There's two different universes with two guys with different faces. Like uh, two different Lokis. Or Persephone didn't recognize Aphrodite as the one she knew.

A change in not only name but species would constitute a tremendously large divergence from the primary time line. It's hypothetically possible, but I, personally, find it highly unlikely that we have any connection whatsoever to the individuals we become during these events and I consider them wholly separate from me.

But even if they are alternate versions, they are different people from us.
