I've come to the realization that my entire idea of right and wrong essentially boils down to "Everybody matters. Don't be a jerk. No, not even to that guy. No, not even if you really don't like him. No, not even if he was a jerk to you first. Maybe if he's physically hurting/threatening you or other people. Then, okay, do what you need to do to ( Read more... )

not being a jerk IS a difficult thing to do. we lose perspective on ourselves and fail to see our actions as they appear to others. I have had this problem many times, and I only realize I was a jerk afterwards.

but let's keep trying not to be jerks?

This sounds like my number 1 commandment: Don't be an asshole.

It covers a lot of ground.

I have a hard time not getting angry at people though, especially if they push my buttons. Some of my buttons are in odd places, and get easily pressed.

I have a hard time not getting angry at people, too. I just want to make sure I never become one of those people who justifies their every rash, angry moment as reasonable, and fair, and somebody else's fault. One of those people who can't say "I'm sorry," you know?

Yeah, I know what you mean.

The trouble is, the stuff people get mad at me about often seems so trivial. I have a lot of trouble keeping RL friends, and the stuff that always breaks up the relationship always makes me go "huh, what?" I don't know if it's like this for everyone or if it's my aspieness rearing its socially-maladjusted head.
