Two things: Yeah, I noticed that reverb thing, too. I guess it really is some kind of enhancement(?) and not the pipes like we thought. I think those are mainly to keep Jedi from Force-choking him now, since obviously they weren't the cause of his voice change. It was kinda weird seeing his earholes/cheeks; apparently he's been wearing those cheekplate things too long. Also, his accent. I'unno, it kinda seems like it goes back and forth between Western/Texas twang and German/Peter Lorre. Honestly, I've never compared the accents themselves, so I can't judge, but I think the German one's a lot more interesting. It just seems like the Western one takes the whole cowboy thing over the edge. But I'm nitpicking; great ep! And yeah, I do kinda agree that he's been the only competent baddie so far in the show. I didn't think there were as many standout Bane moments, though, like before, but maybe there will be this week.
Lorre was hungarian, so that's the slight accent we've always been hearing. :) Of course, Corey trying to give it his own style and the reverb kinda muddle things up again, so the accent jumps around a lot. I like to think of all duros having this slight accent, but I'm sure it's only specially reserved for Bane... not like we'll see other duros in the Clone Wars anyway... :/
That would be interesting if all Duros did have that accent and the reverb, which would explain why Bane still had that funky flange even without his tubes. I think he's the only Duros that's appeared in TCW so far, much less the only one with a genuine speaking role (the ones in 'Knights of the Old Republic' and its associated spin-offs don't count, imho, since they spoke in actual alien dialogue with subtitles).
Kind of a shame they don't have more Duros appearing. TCW has been pretty generous to those of us who prefer the non-human characters (much less having both male & females in some cases), so it's a shame we don't get to see others of that race who aren't Bane. Ah well.
So sick of these goddamn Twi'leks. I was in absolute love with the Togruta designs they had in 'Slaves of the Republic.' They took so many liberties and each one was so different from the next. I feel they could do wonders with the duros race, but I feel Bane is such an iconic character they don't want to add in others. It's so bizarre to me because in KOTOR they were fucking EVERYWHERE
I thought this episode was great, but it took me a few days to finally decide whether I REALLY thought it was great or whether I was just bombarded cause so much crazy shit happened in such a short time frame
( ... )
I'm trying to decide just how I feel about this episode. It's like 'Evil Plans' for me in that, would this have been another mediocre episode without Bane in it? He's got one of those presences that either makes or breaks an episode -depending on one's opinion of him
( ... )
I think, too, Bane episodes might come with a preconception now that they're just going to be above-average CW episodes, but maybe that's my view of it. Agreed that the animation keeps getting better, though there were few tics that threw me off (when the other prisoners are like, "fight! Fight!" and their jerky arm movements), but whatever. Pretty solid ep.

Also loved the Boba drive-by cameo.
