I thought this episode was great, but it took me a few days to finally decide whether I REALLY thought it was great or whether I was just bombarded cause so much crazy shit happened in such a short time frame.

Hearing Obi-Wan's voice come out of a bald, beard-less face was the biggest WUT moment of my entire life. Some people just look completely different with facial hair, and kudos on the animators for blowing my fucking mind.

And Bane..... you crazy sunofabitch I love you more with each passing day. Starting a (borderline)food-fight in a prison caffeteria? You just gotta start shit wherever you go, huh? I appreciate the leap and risk associated with doing a whole episode with him not wearing the hat and breathing tubes. The hat especially. It's associated with him, a part of his persona, and he almost looks.... naked without it. It did create great opportunities and angles to really observe his face and skull structure. There were bizarre shots where he ALMOST looked human-ish and I didn't quite know how to handle it. And the 'adorable prison onesie' really brought out his exact body type (lanky mother fucker), although there where certain scenes where the bodies looked very bizarre. There are still little things like that that need to be touched up animation wise, but other than that looking at a shot from season 1 and then season 4 is like night and day, the progression is amazing.

Favorite part hands down had to be where Obiwan hesitated in shooting the guard, Bane notices, and without a HINT of any hesitation or emotion, shoots him himself. It's kind of amazing not having written or associated a character in over a year and still being able to understand how he ticks. It was still the old Bane I learned to love, even when unknowingly assisting a jedi. And that made me so happy.

Also:

XD

I loved how he just introduced himself in the episode by rolling over the top bunk and just saying something bitchy. And you KNOW he and Eval fought over that top bunk. They had a prison shiv fight and Bane won because of course he did he's Cad Bane

I'm trying to decide just how I feel about this episode. It's like 'Evil Plans' for me in that, would this have been another mediocre episode without Bane in it? He's got one of those presences that either makes or breaks an episode -depending on one's opinion of him-.

Yeah, the animation has gotten pretty darn impressive over the years. I've been telling my friends that it's like the series is a whole different show now, in comparison to the first season (from Ahsoka becoming a pretty darn good character in her own right, to the more darker stories like the whole Umbara arc). There's a few misses (The Droid episodes earlier in the season made me nerd rage p. bad), but that's par for the course for any long running series.

Obi-Wan's makeover reminded me of this meme where people shoop off a person's facial hair (or eyebrows, if they don't have any). That was one of those "What the heck" moments for me, heh.

LMAO. Yeah, he did come out of nowhere. Somehow, that introduction into the plot was fitting, as was the "Oh crap, Bane's involved, I think we're kinda screwed" reaction of Mace and Yoda. I do like that they haven't toned down Bane's character -the scene with Obi-Wan and the Guard in particular, as you'd mentioned-, though this does make me think back on my theory that Bane tends to be a lot more brutal without TODO present. Not gonna lie, though, I didn't miss TODO. I think it'll appear in this arc eventually, but it's nice not having Seth Green making pithy comments in an attempt to be comic relief.

And as an aside: I didn't even realize that one kid was Boba Fett until I hear Bossk speak. Go figure.

I think, too, Bane episodes might come with a preconception now that they're just going to be above-average CW episodes, but maybe that's my view of it. Agreed that the animation keeps getting better, though there were few tics that threw me off (when the other prisoners are like, "fight! Fight!" and their jerky arm movements), but whatever. Pretty solid ep.
