Interesting that I live right across the river in Cincinnati and I've never heard of this candy. o_O

It might be more of a rural thing, or generational. My aunt is a farm woman, and even at that, the whole side of my mom's family is rural and Sheila's the only one who does it. My aunt used coffee cans to store hers and it was rustic and charming. (Also I think the aluminum is good to keep it cool--I store our finished batches in our unheated garage, which is also where my marble slab is.)

Ruth Hunt candy company, out of Mt. Sterling, KY has the best manufactured "dupe" (Blue Monday) but it's still nothing like the original.
