I adore that series with every fibre of my Sherlockian soul. ^_^ Made of win on so many levels. I'm actually watching the Christmas Pudding episode right now. :D
Oh yes :) I've just watched two episodes of this series for the first time last week (Baker Street Nursemaid and Neurotic Detective) and it's great ;) Shall have to watch some more as time allows ;)
Yay for a new fan! I would fully support you watching more! I think the two you have seen are among the best, but there are many others to watch and enjoy :)
Oh man, that sounds ridiculous and completely fun. I will totally have to watch some more of that series! I have only seen three episodes, and one of them was the Wild West show one, which, if memory serves, ended with Watson lassoing the villain.
Oh, man! I'd forgotten that part, but you are right! I remember thinking, 'When on earth did Watson learn to lasso?!' because it takes skill :) It's a fun series, I'd support you watching more! :)
I only really started watching that series recently, but I love it to pieces. Ronald Howard has become my "young" Holmes, I think -- especially when he's wrapped up in his studies!
I love whichever episode it was where, when they all leave, Watson turns down the gas on Holmes's apparatus (apparati?) and it's not until the very very end when Holmes looks up and goes, 'Oh no! I'll've blown Baker Street to bits!' and Watson responds with, 'Don't worry, I fixed it'. The exchange is just so in-character for both of them.
Sexism does make me want to shout at the tv a lot. I can't even watch it's a Wonderful Life because of the OMG she's an old maid!!! thing. But the slash. Hmm I might be able to suffer the sexism for the wonderful slash. Any idea where I might be able to hunt down the eps?
don't know if it helps or hurts the case that it's so very obviously a product of its time (with regards to the sexism et al.) but I would support giving it at least a try!
Evidently this series is in the public domain! (As judging by what's said at the bottom of the page of e.g., [The Case of the Cunningham Heritage (the first episode)] at [the Internet Archive]. And there's a bunch (maybe all?) of the episodes uploaded there. The [wikipedia page for Sherlock Holmes 1954] gives direct links to the first six episodes at the archive. There certainly are more than that uploaded there, try using the [advanced search at the Internet Archive] with search terms // ("Sherlock Holmes" ) AND collection:(classic_tv) // to find them -- you might also want to have the episode list at the ready to compare to. (I wish I could give a simpler way to find these, but I can't seem to find one. Which is quite possibly due to me having only just found out that the Internet Archive also archives these sorts of files. Which is I suppose what I get for

Sorry i meant to thank you for this, but real life has been kicking me in the ass a bit. So Thank you! I still haven't actually watched any yet, but I do plan to asap.

And the great thing about a show from the 1950's is that it'll keep even if you are busy :) Best of luck with getting things done!
