Lancelot's death took my by surprise. I mean I realized something was up when Lancelot and Merlin had that chat when they were alone and Lancelot expressed admiration for Merlin's willingness to die in Arthur's place. I just didn't think I'd see Lancelot walk through the tear in the veil...well, until it happened!

But we know he has to come back. I'm guessing they will go Buffyverse on us. Lancelot was alive when he crossed over so this means he can come back. Question is when?

I found it interesting that Arthur stiffened a bit when Gwen confessed why Lancelot had died. He patted her shoulder and walked off but it was different to his usual method of comforting her.

As for the merry men (loving the posse term you used there), their hi-jinks make me crack up. I know Gwaine has this "shoot first, ask questions later" thing going, but I don't remember him being this clumsy before. Still the actor is charming and pulls it off well. The bunch of them are entertaining.

Yeah, the moment they had that conversation I was like, "Damn, Lancelot's going to sacrifice himself, isn't he?" But that still didn't prepare me for it.

I hope he comes back soon, but knowing my luck he probably won't be back till the end of the season. Or later.

Oh, I loved that scene at the end where Arthur kind of realized how important Lancelot was to Gwen. I don't think Arthur has ever really seen Lancelot as a threat (well, he did in season 2, but then Lancelot left and Gwen and Arthur fell in love, so...), but seeing Gwen break down like that must have opened his eyes a little, and I think that moment will be a game changer for them when Lancelot returns.

I love the posse! They are awesome.

omg my heart broke for Gwen. She just.... she keeps everything inside and she was just suddenly overflowing that she thought Lancelot would always be there, that she's still mad at him and burned by him and in love with Arthur, but the loss of him is like part of her is missing. The same way Arthur reacted when he realized he was going to have to go on without Merlin: Gwen and Arthur both looked like they'd been punched in the gut, and their world no longer made sense. The parallels for Arthur/Merlin and Lancelot/Gwen were ALL OVER THE PLACE - along with the usual plot holes - and it made me interested in the show again.

THEY TOTALLY WERE. Which made me happy. Merlin's always been by Arthur's side, he's always there through thick and thin, giving him emotional support and allowing him to be the hero that he's always wanted to be. He can't even fathom a life without Merlin. For Gwen, she always expects Lancelot to show up at just the right time. He's her knight in shining armor, he's the one who lives for her, who she always expected to be in her life in some capacity, and now he's gone and it's like a part of her died with him.

I love that the show is finally going back to the theme that Merlin is the most important person in Arthur's life. Yeah, he loves Gwen, but Merlin is his whole world, basically.
