We trapped two mice when I lived in the house two years ago, though at least then I had an Alex to deal with the bodies. He was also very helpful when dealing with the largest spider I've ever seen. :)
Heh, yeah, I remember seeing some of those in Latin America. I don't think I saw any quite that big, though. And with insects I'm a bit more of a show-off in general.
...okay, so really, any bravery I exhibit in regards to pests is just a front. But it's easier to be the brave one when you've got a large-ish audience of people who are freaking out. Give me a roomful of insect-fearing girls and I can roll my eyes and say, geez, it's just a bug, look, I squashed it. Give me just me and a roommate and an unwanted mammal and it's a bit more difficult to manage.
We didn't get one. Honestly, we were going for the cheap, efficient thing--the $2 mousetraps at Meijer. And I think the trap is less cruel; it seems like the death would be quick, at least. And it's pretty bloodless. And they don't allow pets in my building. My roommate and I have a theory that we should ask the complex for some sort of rebate for forcing a pet upon us. But that's beside the point.

Would it be more or less cruel to use a cat? At least then they *know* it's a predator.
