I just made you up to hurt myself

It's funny what little things can set you off. This has been an incredibly spazztastically busy week--the computer at Martinizing's still broken, Chronicles of Narnia last Sunday, I was elected next DM in the RPG group within a 24 hour period, MSU Christmas party last night, Game night tonight, RPG night and the transition to my regime tomorrow ( Read more... )

stress, friends, toys, christmas

And why do you say that?

It's obviously because you protest this new movie, but I'm curious why you do.

My reasons for not being absolutely thrilled with Narnia may be different from hers, but... well... for one, they Disneyfied it. The Beavers' dialogue, for example, was just... odd.

The other thing they do (subtly) is diminish Aslan. From the first time the kids meet Mr. Beaver, it's all about, "Oh, your hignesses!" At one point, Father Christmas even says that the snow is melting because of them. There are a lot of little things like that in there... I dunno, in the book, it's all about Aslan being this great and wonderful ruler. Not that they completely ruin Aslan's power, but... they got to the whole Stone Table scene and it just felt like, ok, what's the big deal? There's some lion. Oh, that's nice. Here, kitty, kitty, kitty.

I don't actually mourn it though. They did a lot with the movie that I liked... it's just that the changes they made were disturbing.

I think you'll make a great GM. Don't stress about that if possible.

Oh, it's mostly just because 1) it seemed to happen so fast and 2) there are a ton of other things that are just combining together to make me stressed in general. Matt and I talked some things over, and after this week a lot of the other things I've got going on will be over, so I'll be able to calm down a bit.

I dunno if anyone let you in on the loop, but I think Kate's going to be keeping Aramil through your campaign. That character I was thinking of is all created, and you're welcome to stick him in there if someone's gone one week, but I'm here for all your DMing needs.

Soo... wait, were you still planning on gaming? You make it sound like you're not anymore... I'm so confused...

Whoa, NIN?

My brother gave some of those microbes out last year. Big hit.

Yeah, I got into them a few years ago. The few songs I have just never show up on my playlist, though, which is why they never make it into the "current music" thing.

I was fairly impressed with this remake of Narnia. Yes, they diminished Aslan's role, but meh, he's just supposed to be the Christ-like figure. Who cares if he gets killed off. That's what he's there for! (Yes, I know I'm a bastard)

As for movies done as well if not better than books, that would have to be "Mister Roberts".
