"A man of too many friends brings himself to ruin"
It does seem that the younger we are, the more friends we tend to want to have. But as we grow older, the list narrows and the bonds become stronger. At least that seems to be the ideal, though it doesn't always work that way.
The odd thing is, I remember a class poll in Elementary school health class about popularity--would it be better to have lots of friends, or just one or two close ones? I was maybe the only one who wanted just a few close ones. Now, of course, I have a decent number of people I consider friends... but at times like this I wonder how many people call me one?
wow. i thought it was bad that I found out about the death of all my pets (separate instances) in passing from other relatives. I guess that is still pretty bad.
I'm sure I would find out about my brother or sister becoming engaged or something big in the exact same way.
Heh, yeah, that's pretty bad. I've had grandparents out of surgery before I was even scheduled.
On the converse end, I found out before my cousin that her dad needed quadruple bypass surgery. But then again, it's her own fault that she didn't check her answering machine after her mom left her the message...
...so how much of it is my fault that I remain blissfully unaware of happenings in friends' lives?
