i run because i hate myself

May 20, 2009 08:26

Last night I ran 4.5 miles. Without stopping. That's 45 min of straight running. At ~6.0mph. That's a personal record for distance.

And I did it instead of going out to the bar.

Days like this I confuse myself.

Anyway, \o/ ! Go me.

The rest of this post is attn: jennyclarinet, hilldo, and I guess any other runners ( Read more... )

5k, j-squad, this one's for jenny, i am ambivalent towards running, series: healthblogging, it might suck a dick

See, I'd LOVE to, but only depending on the weather. :/ My asthma tends to dictate when I run if I do go running outside. Warm weather is alright, but colder weather = Hell No.

Yeah, my lungs have a cold trigger. I cough drinking slushees. XD But September miiiiiiiight work out.

If we got just a normal 5K during the summer, though, would you want to run with us?! That would be fun!

I can try it. I'll be honest when I was really sick I quit running altogether (like Dead. Stop) But I can try getting back up to speed. September would give me till August to train and say yes or no.

Well, let me see if someone who lives around here wants to run it. XD Either way, you and I could do a Turk 5K. Where we stop for smokes halfway through. I MEAN WHAT

Dude if I wasn't getting married the next week, I'd totally fly to Ohio and do this race with you!

Yeah, four months would be pushing it for a half marathon--but you could definitely get someone up to running a nice seven miles by then.

I've never done a relay. Sounds like it could be fun, as long as everyone is taking it equally seriously or not-seriously.

In our case, it will probably be less rather than more seriously.

And in my case, I'm really just curious as to whether I could do the 8 miles. I mean, I bet I could, but whether i could do them at any kind of respectable pace.

Hell, if I can do 13 you can do 8. I'm sure of it.

Does whoever runs with you also have to have a name that starts with J?

Apparently! :P Hence the J-Squad tag. It's ridiculous: Jessy, Jeff, Jenny, James, Jason, Jerry, Justin, DJ. And Kurt (who we renamed Juan).

:) I think every group has something like that. In my case, I have a life overrun with Amys. My best friend, my sister-in-law, my officemate...

My buddy Joe would probably run if we asked him. Double bonus is that I think he can cover one of the longer distance legs and his name begins with J. However, Melissa is hotter and can run further too. Hmmmmmmmmmm.

I'd definitely have to move the treadmill or *gasp* actually run outdoors where people can see me. Running in a garage in the summer would certainly get me used to running in high temperatures though.

Being that I've ran a whole mile in the last 2 weeks, I'd probably have to start getting back to it. If only running was more entertaining.
