1) PBS is having a huge Austen-fest, starting tonight with Persuasion and going through April. The website has lots of lovely previews which are made of yay. Pretty dresses! Girliness! Just what we need to survive the winter.

Just watched it! OMG Anne = love! I was yelling at the tv on her behalf by the end! (And mmmmm, Rupert Penry-Jones...) I'm going to have to read the whole thing now. :) If those others rise to the level of Bleak House, this will be a fun party indeed.

I love how she comes to stand up for herself, lay out the smackdown... and finally say, "I've made my choice and nothing will persuade me otherwise."

She's unshakable! Someone has a bashed in head? Instant calm and control. Need a bone set? Everyone stand aside. And how she stands there and everyone says "Isn't it wonderful about (X & Y)?" and after swallowing her initial *Erk!* But... but he's... she puts on her brave-face and carries on. Then sniffles all over her diary and makes me want to hug her. I suspect that, by the end of it, P&P will still be the best yarn, but this one was mine.
