Customer Service: YOU'RE DOING IT WRONG!

Apparently, the $30 that I and thousands of others throw at Bellsouth every month is not enough for them to afford repairmen. When my parents tried to call me Sunday, they got a busy signal - for several hours. Finally they called my cell, which was just as well because I had run out shopping. I figured it was a temporary glitch, was out of town ( Read more... )

The BS party line they trot out whenever there's a problem is industry-wide. They don't want to send someone out. They don't want to pay to send someone out. So they try to scare you with "If it's not a problem outside, you'll have to pay for the service call" and a universal claim that everything is the fault of your cordless phone (in all seriousness, Verizon once told me, when my phone was cutting out and then not coming back on until an outside call came in, that static electricity was arcing between my two cordless phones, and that was why I was having trouble. I haven't laughed so hard in a long, long time (my dad the electrical engineer thought it was pretty hilarious, too).

I told them to send someone, so they finally did, after throwing every scare tactic in the world at me (and by the by, if you live in an apartment/condo building, you can't check the grey box, because you don't have one. Eejits!). I picked my service window, and the guy came up to tell me, right at the beginning of my timeslot, that something had ( ... )

That would explain that, then. Eejits. I shall call them and give them what-for and win this battle, dadblammit! Then I shall cancel. ;)

They honestly thought you'd fall for the static thing? I guess a lot of people will fall for anything that sounds like skience. *eyeroll*

You go, girl. And yes, they tried to pass off the static nonsense in all seriousness. (I mean, really. Static electricity, ARCING off something? Do they think I am a complete moron? Oh, wait...). I may well have sporfled right into the phone when they tried to pull that one over on me.

Nah, Comcast has me sucked into their expensive web. Actually, that's my own fault for *cough* enjoying having so much bandwidth, but whatever. cubreader's parents actually got their land lines back, but I think a lot fo their problems came from three and four people trying to coordinate all at once.

I remember well poor employees getting blasted for company policy as if it were their fault personally. I shall be nice to the peon, but emphatic that this tripe is not to be stood.
