I'm here.

That's the summation of my day, pretty much. Sad, yes?

Yesterday's Meeting From Hell wasn't quite as hellish as I was expecting, but it was definitely long and definitely Not.Fun. But it's over, and good things came out of it, so that's a positive. The banana nut muffins were well-received and Work Wifey emailed me from her sickbed at home to ( Read more... )

Mia HATED it. I sat on the floor to hold the babe and Mia kept trying to push the baby out of the way and climb into my lap. I put her on one side and the baby on the other and she wasn't happy with that, either. I finally told her to sit on the floor in front of me and she instead threw a temper tantrum.

AGH, don't tell me this!!!!!

I wish we had the chance to bring some babies by C. There are some she sees at day care but I haven't had time to interact with them and her at all...

C may not have a problem! And even if she does, you'll work with her, and she'll adjust.

We made a toy together for big brother to give to little brother. It helped. Also, I made special times for baby to be with a sitter while I was with big bro. They are very close, now, (20 years later!)

I thought of doing the toy thing and all of that, but C's too little still to even start explaining (17 months). All she knows is that Mommy's bellybutton is fun. That's the extent of her pregnancy understanding.

I will definitely be having special times with her though... couldn't give that up!

Wow...you are a good mom! Once I was at the grocery store and there was this kid, who was 5 maybe, who was screaming "I WANT IT I WANT IT I WANT IT!!!" over and over. Dad was standing next to said kid saying to his son in a smallish voice "Nowwww Johnny. If you don't stop screaming daddy isn't going to give you this lollipop." Of course this just made the kid scream all the more and once more began the "I WANT IT" tirade. As I rounded the other side of the aisle the father, who was clearly exasperated and tired of his spoiled screaming child gave up and gave Johnny the lollipop who promptly demanded another flavor. I could contain myself no further when I saw this and said to the father rather curtly "Oh that's good. Reward him for bad behavior, because you know that will teach him!" I admit I was very angry at the dad and annoyed at the obnoxiousness of the child and spoke out of turn, but I really felt like SOMEONE had to say something and even though all the women going down the aisle were chirping at how they'd never let their kid ( ... )

Thanks. I think the way I handled her jealousy and tantrum today was because I've been around kids for the past 17 years, when my sisters started having theirs. I've seen what works and doesn't work for the most part. I'm so far from an expert, and make my first-time-mother mistakes/misjudgments, but sometimes I can recall the better way to handle a situation.

You've had a lot on your plate at work lately!

When is your vacation again?

I'm so jealous if your Girl Nights! And even more jealous that you have an Indian restaurant in your area. We use to but they closed and their food was so, so yummy : (

I have some news so we need to catch up on IM soon!

Work's been crazy, and it's only going to get worse.

We leave for vacation next Saturday! We have a house for a week, but we're all open to the idea of coming home early in the event that we start getting on each others' nerves :)

Girls' Nights are loverly! I highly recommend them if you can get one started with your friends who are local.

If you ever get up here, I'm taking you to Indian.

I'll be on IM all week - catch me there or via email!
