Chapter 9
Next morning, Ueda braced himself before walking into the change room at the dance hall. He just had to make it through a few hours, Julie had made it more then clear taking off today was not an option. Taking a bracing breath Ueda grabbed the door handle and pulled open the door. Walking into the room Ueda immediately noticed two things; he was the last to arrive and no one was talking. Everyone was changing in utter silence, which had never happened with them before. Ueda dropped his gym bag in his usual changing spot and tried to concentrate on the hall, trying desperately to ignore little things, like how Koki kept trying to catch Kame's eye and failing or how Junno kept looking at Ueda suspiciously. He took a sigh of relief when he heard the door open and close, signalling his groupmates heading into the other room. This rehearsal was going to be hell with all this tension between them like this. Ueda even wondered if they'd be able to learn the new routine in time, though with Ueda now in a movie they might have a bit more time to learn the routine.
Just as he was about to leave the dressing room and join the others, even though he wished he could stay in the change room all day, Ueda felt something collide with his head. Looking on the ground he found a crudely folded paper airplane lying next to his feet. Picking up the plane, Ueda looked around just in time to see Kame bolt out the door into the next room. Opening the paper, Ueda read the three words written inside in Kame's distinct handwriting multiple times, each time his smile growing until he was beaming with the happiness that was building to rapidly inside him he felt he'd burst.
You have me
Entering the dance hall, Ueda tried not the look too happy. A little happy was fine since he could say it was because of the movie role he now had, but totally love sick was not. For one, he didn't really know for sure that's what Kame's note meant. He could be totally reading it the wrong way, since it was vaguely written. Looking over at Kame, Ueda found him standing with Koki and suddenly he felt less sure of what he had read. They were standing close talking in low voices, but it was the way Koki was acting. The way he looked at Kame, or reached up to tuck a stray piece of Kame's hair behind his ear, those little things told him that Kame still hadn't left Koki. Even after the discussion they had last night, even with Ueda telling Kame right now what he wanted, Kame still hadn't left Koki.
With the choreographer showing up, rehearsal started and everyone was glad to see it was running much smoother then the day before. They were able to run through the routine as a group multiple times and improve on the areas that needed it. When the choreographer asked them to run through it individually Ueda took great pleasure in watching Kame move. He was graceful and fluid, with just the right amount of sex appeal as always, but this time there was a part of Ueda telling him this man was now his. If he was right about the whole thing, he couldn't wait for the moment he could take advantage of that fact.
Finally they were given a break, Ueda decided he had waited long enough. Heading in Kame's direction he tried to act normally, but he wasn't quite able to control his smile, or his nerves.
"Hey," Ueda started quietly getting Kame's attention. He was just glad Kame was alone since Ueda had seen Koki also heading in his direction.
"Hey," Kame answered back before taking hold of Ueda's arm just above his elbow. "Come on," he said quietly before pulling the other man into the change room.
Koki watched the two men head into the other room as he walked over to Junno, "what do you thing that's about?"
Junno took a sip of his water, debating on what to tell his friend. "Trust me, you don't want to know," was all he said, unable to hold all the bitterness out of his voice.
Once in the safety of the change room, Kame dropped his hand from Ueda's arm. Looking at each other, both suddenly felt very awkward as the silence grew until Ueda couldn't stand it any longer, "I um.... I got your note."
Kame's lips slowly spread into his trademark flirtatious smile as he reached for Ueda's hands, his fingers weaving their way between those of the smaller man's. "I figured you would," he replied before raising Ueda's hands to his lips, raining his fingers with kisses.
Ueda couldn't help but smile as he watched Kame's lips dance over his skin, it was nice to have something to smile about again. "I just wanted to make sure I understand what you meant by it."
Looking into Ueda's eyes, Kame could see the uncertainly the other man was feeling. Letting go of his hands, he wrapped his arms around the smaller man's waist and pulled him close, until he was able to rest his forehead against Ueda's temple. "It means I can't ignore how you make me feel, even if I wanted to. You make me want a relationship again, you make me want to make you happy."
Kame straightened, looking Ueda in the eye again, loving the feeling of Ueda's hands resting on his chest. The other man was completely folded up against him, making Kame fell strong, powerful and responsible for protecting this person as precious as the world's rarest flower. "With Koki I didn't even realise a relationship was starting. He started kissing me and I let him. I crawled into bed with him because I didn't want to be alone. Sex came slowly, I needed time to feel I could trust him and he gave it to me. He made me feel safe when I needed it most. Now I want to protect you, make you feel safe. I know that you love me -"
Ueda looked away, a light blush dusting his cheeks. Kame gently took hold of his chin, turning his face to look at him again, "I'm not able to say it back to you, but I want to one day. You make me want to try to love again. Hell you make me feel, and that's more then anyone has done for awhile now."
Listening to this, Ueda was overwhelmed with emotion. He never imagined he would ever be hearing Kame say these things to him and he was at a loss of words for how to convey everything he was feeling. He rose on his toes, with plans of catching Kame's lips in a kiss, only to be stopped by Kame placing a single finger over his mouth forcing him onto flat feet again. "I can't kiss you yet. I still can't trust myself with you and I want you to know I heard what you said last night. I still haven't left Koki -"
"What?" Ueda interrupted in disbelief, realising his suspicions were real he walked out of Kame's arms. Suddenly he didn't feel so warm and fuzzy had he had before.
"I came to terms with this today. I thought about everything you said last night after I left your place then today when you walked in here, I realised I didn't want to loose you. I just haven't had time to talk to Koki, but I will and I'll end it." Kame pleaded, following the other man. He didn't like not touching Ueda and reached out taking his hands again.
"When?" Ueda demanded, he wasn't going to stand around and wait of Kame to make up his mind. This was a now-or-never type deal for him.
"Soon," Kame answered and upon seeing the look of outrage on Ueda's face he decided it would be good to specify. "Tonight, I'll end it tonight."
Ueda sighed a little begrudgingly, "I guess I can live with that." he stated wrapping his arms around Kame's waist and resting his head on his chest.
Wrapping his arms around Ueda's waist again, Kame nuzzled his face into the smaller man's neck loving the scent of the man in his arms. "We should head back before someone comes to get us," he reasoned straightening.
Unable to control himself completely, Kame leaned down to place a kiss on Ueda's cheek. Taking his chance, Ueda moved his head at the last moment forcing their lips to meet. Within seconds Kame felt the passion rising within him like a raging fire, and Ueda was the oxygen that fuelled it. He was the very oxygen Kame needed to survive and he wondered how he had gone so long without him. Pulling away slowly, Ueda left his fingers lingering on Kame's chin, whispering against his lips "think of that as incentive." Lightly licking Kame's lips, Ueda then turned to leave the change room, adding a bit more sway to his hips.
Kame watched Ueda leave, more determined then ever now to get him. It wasn't just about the sex now, though after that little stint of Ueda's it was a major thought on Kame's mind, but he just wanted to be with that man. Leaving the change room himself Kame's eyes automatically found Koki, taking a steeling breath he headed over it him.
"Hey, everything okay?" Koki asked seeing the look on his lover's face. He knew something was going on, he just didn't know what.
Kame nodded, then began the process he was least looking forward too. "Yeah, is it okay if I come over tonight. We need to talk".
