Art goodness

After much consideration, I decided to buy myself a tablet. This tiny-weeny touchpad was just not cutting it anymore, especially for even my somewhat limited attempt as photo editing and digital art. It is a little, cheap pad, but still much fun to use. I spent this evening trying to get used to it ( Read more... )

hey, you read questionablecontent, don't you? the guy on there used to draw really shitty, and basically practiced til he got better. you can start at the beginning and skip forward about 100 posts at a time and really see the progress. and he occasionally posts tutorials about how he draws on his tablet, i think. so that might be a resource, is what i'm trying to say?

I did what you suggested, flipping through by the hundreds. The plot jumps made my head hurt, but the art improvement was amazing.

So all I need to do is draw about 5000 panels for a webcomic, eh? Guess I better start looking for plot ideas.

Don't be so hard on yourself. I think the shading on that bench is pretty cool. And how did you do the grass? I really like the grass.

The grass is done with the 2 default grass brushes, along with pressure sensitivity.

I do love that brush, though. It makes great scar tissue too.

I agree with Ben -- don't be so hard on yourself. Personally, I really like the mixture of different shading/patterning styles. Stating that you have a "lack of intrinsic talent" and are "an absolute beginner" could potentially color (pardon the pun) my ex-professional art historian opinion that the effect you achieved is extremely engaging.

Plus, your caption is awesome. Vaguely reminds me of Duchamp's post-Cubism period titles, except that with him his titles were (in my view anyway), the only redeeming quality of those works, while your image is enhanced by, but can certainly stand alone without, the caption.
