So, Cymbalta

Oct 04, 2008 11:48

Day 2 and I had to force myself to actually swallow the damned thing this morning. I know, intellectually, that side effects tend to be worse at the outset, tend to back off after a bit, but it still goes against some pretty basic survival instincts to put something in your mouth that you're fairly certain is responsible for making you feel ( Read more... )

*giggle* Miss Professor Firefly

Okay, we have this student right now who is driving us nuts. We had to have a long talk about rounding errors, precision, and the like. He had measured the resistance of several loads in a simple circuit. He then added those measurements together had got 9.23 V. Why only 2 past the point? Because that particular equipment only measures that much.

So, then he measures the entire load and the result was, GASP, 9.21 V. He spent no less than 30 minutes trying to go over his results and find his mistakes before coming to me for assistance. Sigh. The adjunct prof is NOT covering precision and accuracy with this class and the regular prof did. It helps to alleviate this kind of situation.

Oh dear. It's so frustrating watching students bash their heads against a wall, particularly when it's completely unnecessary.

Getting on Cymbalta was really hard. I got hit with all kinds of side effects. The good news is, every major side effect was over within a week of starting it or increasing the dose. It does get better, I promise.

He switched to calling me "Professor." *headdesk* Begged him not to do that either, and he said, "Well, I can't just call you by your given name. You're my elder." *grayheaddesk*
====================================

That? Is fucking hysterical Miss grayheaddesk. hahahahahha

Thanks! I hope so too. I've been reluctant to try it for this very reason, but the way this latest flare keeps making comebacks suggests it's time to try something new. The nausea is less today, so hopefully that's a trend that will continue until it's gone.

I have students who call me ma'am occasionally, but since this is the "sort of south" it's a little more expected...

Ack! Now ma'am would just about push me over the edge. LOL But as you say, it's probably more expected in your area.

Oh dear. I'm so sorry you are sick again, and that the cure is apparently making things worse. We have a lot of that round our way. The F-I-L has some health problems, and about 3 of the dozen pills he takes daily are for the original problem. The other 9 are for counteracting the side effects of the original 3... So sorry it's happening to you.

Professor? Miss? You were at least a Mrs last time I looked! Did you demote Patsfan for the purposes of teaching! Giggle! Makes me laugh when I do the confirmation classes at school, I'm saying quite clearly that I'm Saracen, and this seems to short circuit the kids and their teacher... I usually end up with a conglomeration of Sa-Miss-Boyo'sMum-Mrs before I put them out of their mysery...

And as fot eh Copper who stopped my car when I was 19 and called me Madam? Well, I just didn't know where to put myself!

Thanks. And I'm sorry to hear your FIL is so ill. At least I have the hope this will level off, whereas his situation sounds more lasting. {{hugs}}

Yes, still a Mrs! Though there are days I wonder. But if anyone actually called me Mrs. Patsfan, I'd be looking around for my MIL, because that never happens.

Sa-Miss-Boyo'sMum-Mrs

I do remember doing that to my friends' parents when I was younger, the few who would ask me to call them by first name.

Madam? Does that mean he mistook you for the Queen? ;-)
