This is such a roller coaster ride. D: I was okay before after my dad told me my family was okay, as far as we knew. I went off, took the test, maaaaybe did okay, and then walked back and promptly called my mom. The situation apparently got a lot worse ( Read more... )

*hugs* Check the links I gave you. In CA, water's always a problem. Also, with tons of people like you wanting to make calls to find out that people are alright, phone lines get jammed (as the sites say), so it might just be that they're okay and trying to call you... but a lot of other people are also trying to get through and make sure people are okay.

Um... eat the stuff that's perishable first. Forget balanced diet/eating too much at a time, as the calories won't spoil while in someone's body... If they've got storms, stick pots outside to get rainwater... (not so much something we can do here...)

Surprisingly, my town got off as one of the lightest in the area. Only 5 people died and as far as we know, no buildings collapsed. (Which is weird 'cause one of the cities further away from the epicenter was totalled.) The phone lines are back up in my city, but not in a lot of the surrounding area, so thankfully I got to call in and hear them talk for myself. :) Such a relief.

I think the army got there that morning so the food problem is, hopefully, deterred. Thanks so much for the support and the links though! <3

*hugs* I hope your entire extended family and friends are all okay... it does sound like your family will be able to pull through. It's probably total chaos right now, so that's why you can't call through, so don't panic. Just keep your fingers crossed, and if you're calling over there, keep in mind that phone lines are either down or jammed, and hopefully as time passes, the friends and family you have over there will be able to contact you (and make sure to tell your parents to call you with updates!)

Actually we found out that only a few telephone lines are down in our city. We got off VERY light compared to some of the surrounding cities, mainly because we had a lot of new buildings and were one of the 'newer' cities. I just called and heard from them, so that was really nice. :3 I was on the phone when another aftershock hit though so there was a lot of chaos briefly, but it's just good to hear from them. <3

*hug* Thank you! I just got off the phone with my relatives right now and they just got hit with another aftershock, but the worst of it in their homes are some broken vases and plates. :3 My town was considered extremely lucky compared to the surrounding area, so that's always good.

Awwww. D: *huggles* I think they're okay, i just got off the phone with them and they just got an aftershock, but for the most part they seem to be fine. Nervous and ready to run outside, but fine.
