About the Chinese, I can tell you it's true XD; I don't know why, but here, people who aren't much into Asian cultrue, always think that anything Asian = Chinese. Like... everyone always thinks I want to learn Chinese and not Japanese *rolls eyes* my parents are less that way now, but the old guy is till making fun of me that my boyfriend's surname will be "Yamaha" or "Suzuki" *dies*

XD BUT THE SAD THING IS, AN ASIAN PERSON CAN DISTINGUISH WHICH PARTS OF ASIA ANOTHER ASIAN PERSON IS FROM.

I'm talking about the extent to which speaking a heritage language is a vital part of maintaining ethnic identity. XD I do believe my entire paper/argument hinges on schoolyard isolation felt by kids who don't speak the Mother Tongue, and how this pushes them from their ID for LIFE, thanks to the Ripple Effect, or some other crap.
