Ruminations on The Philip and Elizabeth game.

The Game has moved along in the last few days and we have been enjoying ourselves building our alter egos' personalities. Elizabeth walks to work, keeps shoes at the office which she rotates every week. She sees no reason to carry them because all of her work clothes go with all of her work shoes. Philip bikes to work and ruthlessly maintains his ( Read more... )

Congratulations to Philip and Elizabeth for defeating the mice. It's especially hard to get rid of things that could be heirlooms, eh?

Courage and fortitude for the DVDs. Last month I donated a box of music CDs and two paper grocery sacks of books to the library's Used Book Store. The CDs were surprisingly easy. With the books, I repeatedly had to beat back "But I might still read it someday!"

Not even going near the books until the absolute last minute and expect dismal failure. The last time I only managed a single copy of Master and Commander and that's only because we already had 2 other copies, 1 paperback, 1 Folio hardcover.

Such bravery exhibited: mice expelled (despite the obvious dangers of intrinsic cuteness and sentimental attachment) and further to face the DVDs! Such brave and daring souls for accountants! I applaud their practicality.

Yeah, they're so brave that Philip dove under the bed for renagade shoes today instead of tackling the DVD's in the hall. (Not brave at all.)He needs to get back on task or Elizabeth may lose faith in him.

I can only hope that Elizabeth will continue her support. One does not immediately tilt at castles. One must first train for such an event, with each small accomplishment building confidence and learning new ways to confront old daemons. There are benefits to discovering renegade shoes and smaller challenges, it awards confidence where it is needed, it applies compassion which feeds bravery, and it allows the work itself to continue without the monsters of "Overwhelm" biting with their venomous attacks and creating "inertia".

Elizabeth, hold strong, you will need such aid and compassion in your endeavors as well, I am sure. I continue to believe your strong sense of practicality will see the benefit of tallying all the dependent spreadsheets before trying to balance the summary sheet.

Elizabeth is looking forward--with a martial gleam in her eye-- to cleaning, sanding, and revarnishing the bookcases to within an inch of their wooden lives. It better be done in the addition or there will be half a dozen cats stuck to them.
