Decades

I've always felt that the naughts were important to recognize somehow, not always with great fanfare, (let's face it I celebrate every birthday with great fanfare anyway) but with something. When I turned twenty I had a "kids" party with cake, ice cream, hot dogs, balloons, pin the tail on the donkey, that sort of thing. My parents hosted it and ( Read more... )

Having suffered through several bouts of plantar fasciitis myself, I know how NOT fun it is. Stretching, massage therapy, and foot wakers have been my saving throw...

These guys are pricey, but they are SO worth it. I tried a bunch of other things, arch supports, shoes, orthotics, a bizarre teal plastic stretching device. Nothing works like these little nubbly foot wakers. I keep one under my desk, and work my feet on it when I sit. I keep the other by my bed, and step on it before I go to bed, and often when I wake up. It was intense at first, but now I miss it if I skip a day or two. I even want to take them with me when I travel. It's done amazing things for my feet.

Sympathy for the plantar fasciitis. Do you wear a brace at night to keep the muscles from tightening up? That helped me a lot (my p.f. is now totally gone, hurrah!).

My first thought about the bagpipe lessons was, "What do the cats think?"

Do you have the full kilt kit to go with the bagpipes? You'd look awesome.

I don't wear anything at night- I don't do well with stuff on my feet and legs in bed. I can only handle blankets because there is always at least one evil mosquito lying in wait.

The cats are completely ignoring me.

The full kit will come many (probably) years from now when I get good enough to march with the rest of the band. And thanks. I am also looking forward to freaking people out seeing me in a "skirt" :) for the first time in thirty-seven years.

Crocs all but cured me of plantar fasciitis pain. I swear by them. I don't care what they look like. Happy feet are worth it! :D

OMG, bagpipes! I'm trying to picture the look on the cats', dogs' & Beloved's faces now. LMAO!

I like the crocs but they are no longer strong enough to give me relief.

The cats look bored, the dogs look hopeful that I will leave the chanter where they can get their teeth into it and the Beloved--looks-- well-- resigned. So far. Of course I am mostly practising outside right now. We'll see how she looks in December when I have to move inside. Maybe then however I will be able to manage more than half a scale. Once. That kind of sounds right. Kind of.

Go you! That's awesome. When I was growing up there was a guy who lived about half a block from my mother who was learning pipes. His wife banished him to the driveway outside and I used to have my morning coffee out on the back step so I could listen to him. He was quite good by the time I moved out.

One day... many, many days from now, I should like to be quite good too. For now I will settle for not terrible in the future.
