Sabbatical, Day Two

Apr 22, 2012 17:02

Am sitting here enjoying Day Two of my joblessness. It's either not sunk in yet, or this is as sunk in as it's going to get and I was very mentally prepared for this. We'll see. In the mean time, I finished a couple of things for the 14th Century costume today... ( Read more... )

Maybe I should start up my campaign to convince you to come to Clothier's next February. It's an SCA event just south of Kansas City that consists of classes on medieval garb. I hear next year's theme is to be underwear.

Would not have to try very hard. I had actually thought about joining the SCA but didn't really need another time suck. I'm not going to be a director for Naka Kon next year so I should have the mental capacity to devote to it. Be sure to give me a heads up as soon as you know when it is so I can make sure I get the time off of work and I'm in.

You're always so careful with details and historical facts/stories and materials. I'm so jealous. ;_; I'm a "buy whatever looks good and try it" type, and I just can't wrap my head around learning all the awesome stuff you know and keep track of when you make things. Still, I guess that means I'll just have to listen extra hard when you talk at panels. :)

I will be massaging your head when I see you so I can feel the veil. ;P Or, better yet, asking for pics from every angle so I know EXACTLY how it's made. ^^

Um, don't massage my head. There are pins holding that thing on and I don't forsee this ending well for either of us. How about I show you how I put it on. It's really just a rectangle of fabric folded in half to make a square and then draped over my head. The rest is just folding it in places to make it fit and look pretty.

I'm really interested because a costume I made a while ago had a veil as part of it and while the headband thing I made worked, it was REALLY uncomfortable and didn't look all that great. So, I need tips for improvement! :)
