the pie? NO IT TURNED OUT PRETTY TASTY.

The brackets? ALSO NO BECAUSE I REALLY DON'T CARE. But hahaha @ all the guys in my family who actually WATCH sports and are aware of this kind of thing and lost super hard (my Brian, as you might have noticed, deliberately picked all of the lowest-ranked teams to win. He also does not care).

Yeah, but it was edible in the end, so you didn't do badly. Sugar in particular is very volatile, easy to burn and over-caramelize into a rock-hard mess. I once ruined a pot and had to throw it out because I burned some chocolate pudding in it. Ugh. It tasted like smoke and sadness, and had cooked into a hard substance at the bottom that was impossible to get off.

From now on, it's instant only for me.

That's actually pretty comforting! My mom is excellent at baking and is the type to yell at you and make you feel bad if you make any mistakes at it instead of ever telling stories about mistakes she's made. I set the pie on fire at Brian's parent's house, so I was feeling pretty bad, but his mom just laughed and told me about how she set sweet potatoes on fire one Thanksgiving (then she also called up Brian's brother to tell him I set the pie on fire, like just to tell him that, and so then I sat on the floor in front of the oven with the pilot light on to make sure nothing disastrous happened.)

That's very sad about your pudding, though, and even more so about the pot! I am definitely going to keep this super awesome learning experience in mind for future baking endeavors.

im real sad because i forgot to do a bracket this year! the tournament always starts during spring break and im always taking half of spring break to catch up on sleep, and so by the time i'm like "OK GUYS LETS DO THIS" everyone is like, "dude you already missed three games." and then i feel like a cheat b/c i know who won a few of them ( ... )

Lmao, yes, I pick largely based on 1) whim 2) if I know anyone who's gone to the school. It doesn't go all the way to the final four, or I would have had some sort of bizarre impossible tie going on with a couple of Big Ten schools. Honestly all of us are like "lol brackets," and definitely no one moreso than my Brian (see his prediction for the combined final score), so it really has just been fun to check the standings every couple of days and be like LOL I'M IN SECOND, WHAT HOW DID THIS EVEN

ALSO I MISS YOU TOO. SEE MY ICON FOR DETAILS.
