In most languages, the word 'son' is used to mean offspring of any gender. I think most intelligent women get this. Whoever it was who wrote to the PM's office about is clearly bat-shit crazy.

It's just a diversion tactic; they're trying to slip something by us while we're all busy debating a non-issue. Search engines do this all the time at conferences. They announce Project X on day 1 of teh conference, get us all buzzing about that, meanwhile they've secretly launched Project Y at the same time. And we're all too drunk and/distracted by Project X to realize it.
