Yay! Sort of...

Well, it turns out in their infinite wisdom that the company I work for decided to keep me on today, although my 'other half', as I sometimes refer to him, wasn't so lucky. From our group of 7 people, we lost three today, and my manager yesterday. In two month's time we'll be losing two more. So our of 7 + 1 manager, we'll be down to 2. We're ( Read more... )

Ouch! It sounds to me like they are basiclly telling you to 'find another job real soon now' kind of message.

You should probable start to spend most of your time at work looking for another job.

Check out www.mentorg.com. They have several really good jobs there now and then. Look for the wilsonville or san Jose office. Cuase the others ones just are not as nice. The Mentor graphics office is over by where FC is held.

I also recommend looking for work at hospitals. My experience with Mentor Gfx is that they will screw you when they can if it's profitable. Cha's experience with them is greater than mine.

I worked for Mentor for a couple of years. They do tend to do that... but they also seem to pay good and I had a really nice office. Once your into their inside core... you don't get as much of the crap like that as you would if you were a contractor.

I think they did alright by me. The only thing I have against them is laying off my entire department. It worked out for me though... as I went in with my former boss and got all the equipment and we started our own company.

Watched the same thing happen around here time and again. The other posters are correct, start looking now and don't worry about them. They're being nice to you now, don't wait until they have to be unnice. *sigh*
Seems as though we just keep spiraling down, doesn't it?

Jobs are temporary, Findra. It's one of those things you have to let go of after a while. The world where people went into work after finishing school and stayed in the same job until retirement is gone, replaced by something much more frightening.
