Does training go with the license?

Yeah, but in Australia it's pretty bizare. I did my training in Victoria which has a significantly different legal system to Queensland, at least from the point of view of security officers. In Victoria, any person may arrest any person for any offence with two provisos, firstly, you must arrest with the intention of handing them to a magistrate or proxy if an indictable offence or release them immediately if non indictable. In Queensland you can arrest or detain. If you arrest you're in all sorts of grief and may have to prosecute them yourself. You can only detain for breaches of the peace, thankfully that covers virtually all crime and if not, just get them to swear and you're good. Other than that, training is what you'd expect, couple of days of "this is a radio" and an afternoon of defensive tactics over 2 weeks.

Oh that's interesting to know (will be living in Queensland for some years when I finally get over there!)
