Yeah, but in Australia it's pretty bizare. I did my training in Victoria which has a significantly different legal system to Queensland, at least from the point of view of security officers. In Victoria, any person may arrest any person for any offence with two provisos, firstly, you must arrest with the intention of handing them to a magistrate or proxy if an indictable offence or release them immediately if non indictable. In Queensland you can arrest or detain. If you arrest you're in all sorts of grief and may have to prosecute them yourself. You can only detain for breaches of the peace, thankfully that covers virtually all crime and if not, just get them to swear and you're good. Other than that, training is what you'd expect, couple of days of "this is a radio" and an afternoon of defensive tactics over 2 weeks.

Townsville. (I've already had Rhys scout out the Asian groceries for my supply of rice!)
And yeah, QLD is huuuuge. It swallows up entire European nations in terms of land area XD. I still laugh when I remember how big they described the affected flood area was - it's just so mind-stoppingly huge!

Well, while Rhys is enlisted, we've got DHA housing, but we do dream of our own place in the future. It's quite nice there, Rhys tells me, and where the house is, the school is literally just down the road. I love how it sounds already and can't wait to get there so we can start making it a home he can come back to.
I also can't wait to get my hands on that kitchen and cook delicious meals, and keep a cookie jar full and have cookies to send to my friends <3 (I love baking!)
I don't know yet when I'm going to be over there. Department of Immigration hasn't got back to us yet. I'm not happy about it because the kids missed the start of the school year, it seems.

1 - 1st Royal Australian Regiment., 2 - 2RAR, which forms the Aussie version of the USMC. There is a 3rd battalion up at Lavarack, which not surprisingly is 3RAR but they're a bunch of quambies still crying about losing their parachute status.
I thought he'd already enlisted, but here's a list of slang you should try to get your head around;

He's based in Lavarack. I understand he outshoots a fair bunch of the infantry during exercises, something he wishes the range instructors wouldn't use to tease the rest of the infantry about too much about. Initially though he applied to be infantry, but the guys at recruitment told him no, because he was a brand new dad with a month old son.
There's also quite a bit I'm not allowed to openly state, since this is a public post ^^;

Rhys (manta_x) is the man in the profile family picture.

It's pretty obviously written by some 2RAR numpty.
Pogues are non-infantry members of the defence force, and by definition, parasite scumbags.
