Gaaaaaaaaaah. I assume this is the AU you were talking about writing, and honestly? You destroyed me with this. The pain here is so palpable, but it's so perfectly offset by Dan's detached calm -- it makes it completely chilling, and vividly real. I mean, I could see this scenario for a post-5x08 Dan in canon anyway, but here you take it up a notch and really make it an incredible well-crafted, realistic possibility. Great work.
