They do not make things like they used to.
I know this because I spent this afternoon dismantling the top half of a tensile testing apparatus that was 50 years old. Lots of parts and intricate stuff, but the main feature that made it a relic? That would be the quarter inch thick steel casing. That's right, I could safely stand behind this thing down-range of most small caliber firearms ( Read more... ) -

According to my calculations....
... my unemployment benefits will run out around the 24th of May. I think if I sub-teach enough I can extend the benefits, it just depends how many teachers get the flu.
If I don't have a job when stuff runs out, I suppose burger flipping is not beneath me. (Did that sound elitist? Oh well.) -

Firefly. I know Pushing Daisies is still on, but I'm not sure how much longer it gets to stay. I know The Middleman hasn't been cancelled yet, but they haven't ordered anymore episodes and that's not a good sign.

Jobless, Week 1
It's been one week, and I haven't had an interview yet. Color me perturbed, but things are not progressing as hoped. I get about a call a day from recruiters.
