I didn't stop living my life 10 years ago, and I'm not about to go hide now because of a threat for Sunday. The threat and fear of another attack will always loom over my head, whether it's 9/11 or any other date. Nothing to do but brace and wish Sunday was here and gone already.

I sympathise.

I've gone on a news blackout because I can't stand the endless media barrage. It simultaneously cheapens the horrific nature of the event, rubs salt in the survivors wounds, and holds the country in a place of fear which we should have grown beyond.

Remember, sure. Wallow in faux sentimentality, not so much.

This. Living in NYC is horrific this time of year for the survivors and family members. This year? OMG, so much worse. Coverage started back in January. Fucking January. This week, just leaving my house is daunting because everyone is talking about it. I'm tired of hearing people recount what it felt like to them, poeple who weren't in New York and have never lived here. I'm tired of political grandstanding. I just want people to shut up and leave us alone.

It's not my personal tragedy. It's yours. And Bree's. And my former co-worker, Mr Mundania's (he was on the phone to his cousin who worked a couple of floors above where the first plane hit, when it hit).

While I have the utmost sympathy for those who lost family and friends on 9/11, it's not personal for me. It's grossly unfair to you and the other survivors for politicians to grandstand and wannabes to tell fabricated tales. And worst of all, it doesn't help you process or heal when they keep picking the scab off the wound.

I hope you've not had too horrible a day today. I've been thinking of you and wishing you well.
