Progress

My itty bitty kitten just weighed in at 90 grams after 4 ml of formula and a pretty healthy poop. It was his second poop of the day. That is progress. He also seems to be latching and is getting nose bubbles a lot less than yesterday. By comparison though, his one sibling weighed in at 184 grams tonight. That is FANTASTIC news!!! And I seriously wonder if those kittens were conceived several days apart (very possible) and the older one forced the birthing early. Four days for eyes opening is really precocious! Try not to compare them - I've had 100+ gram differences in litters before. You're doing SO great with him!

Having a friend who can help cover you is GREAT! Will the kitten still be housed with mama between feedings?

This might sound kinda woo woo, but ... don't give up your own force of will for that kitten. I truly believe that's part of what's getting him through. I think you know what I mean - there's a way in which you just WILL them to get better, somehow, when you're the one caring for them. Tell that little kitten, on your last feed of the morning, that you'll be back in the afternoon, and you'll be looking to see how well he's done all day long.
/woo woo ;)

Seriously - you're doing GREAT! I'm rooting for that little guy, seriously!

Since this post, I now have labored breathing. I can't keep him with the mama between feedings. I'm thinking of taking him with me to work today because I fear the worst and I don't want that to happen on someone else's watch.

I am totally not giving up though.

I didn't know kittens could be conceived days apart. The sill born was huge! It made me wonder what had happened. Bruiser was the first one out so you may be right. Thank you for the info.
