Such a wonderful picture. I especially am every time I watch it amazed by the colors of the bedroom once she's all scratched up, and then as they go in to preform the exorcism. That pale pale grey/blue color cast over everything. The art design and cameramen did just great jobs all around, and the preformances and direction reinforce that atmosphere to the greatest degree possible.
I still say Friedkin does great work. Of course there's no way he (or anybody) could top THIS film, but with work like BUG, you still can see he knows how to organize and set up some of cinema's more tense, agonizingly frightening sequences. Bug deserved FAR FAR more praise. It's a real intensive accomplishment. S'far as I'm concerned anyhow.
some nice unexpected stills here. In some documentary Friedkin says he intended to compose many of the shots like Magritte paintings, which shows much of the time.
