This movie tears me apart everytime I watch it. I have a close relationship with my father too (NOT as close as she got though!) and I just feel soo much for these characters.
I wasn't creeped out as much as saddened by it. It didn't seem sexual..but more confused. It was almost as if their love was so intense, they didn't know what to do with it/ how to express it.
Heh, I took caps of this to do a post, seeing as only the very end had been done before. You beat me too it, but it's interesting to compare what you chose to cap and what I chose myself. I find this film hard going, but very moving and well done. Obviously DDL is amazing.
There were some really amazing shots, but this movie was definitely not as easy to cap as I first thought it would be. There were just way too many close ups of Camilla Belle and Day-Lewis; it was emotional but a little redundant in its photography.
I'd definitely be curious to see your stills. I was surprised no one else capped this recently, considering the blow up of There Will Be Blood
I won't post them here because I think you're post is good enough to make mine redundant but I shall post them in my LJ and give you the link. :) I saw this for the first time the day before I saw TWBB but somehow didn't realise Eli/Paul was the same actor as had been in the other film until two thirds of the way through the movie!
Funny how he(Paul's character)mentions working for a preacher in Jack and Rose.. Right around the capture the snake.
I'm convinced that were it not for Paul's chemistry/connection with DDL in this film, he may never have ended up in There Will Be Blood... at least not in such a key role
She was a little ..crazy eyed and it made me wonder if it was her acting or the script that was the problem. I'd only seen her in Donnie Darko and Saved! before this..
jena malone sucks in everything. she is the biggest over-actor ever. i thought i liked her in something once & then i realized it was evan rachel wood.
