The Emmy's Reloaded...

Sep 18, 2005 22:02

Okay -- this is the final version of my Emmy thoughts:

The Good:

JAMES SPADER WON AGAIN!! Sorry, I had to bold that. Given my post a few days ago, I think it is only fitting that I rejoice in Alan Shore's consecutive victory. I still think Boston Legal is going to suck without Tara, but James Spader and William Shatner kick serious ass ( Read more... )

The funny thing is that this is happening right now a couple miles from my apartment, but it doesn't even start on TV here for another hour.

Gotta love the FCC and their regulations for how much time network TV gets during primetime.

Eh, where is this rule?

It's called the Prime Time Access Rule (PTAL) and it was enacted in 1970 to prevent networks from having a monopoly over what local stations could broadcast in the Top 50 TV markets -- thus limiting network TV to three hours a night (prime time started at 7 PM before 1970), 8 PM - 11 PM. It was technically retired in 1995, but at that point, primetime had pretty much been defined as 8 - 11 (7 PM on Sunday's), so the rule still sort of carries on. The FCC is currently in talks to resume the PTAL again.

As someone who has worked as a music director in theater, I smite you for your Tony Award comment. And no host was ever better on any award show than Hugh Jackman was. =Þ

But WOOT to the Raymond comment. Everybody does not love Raymond. Hell, I didn't even sorta like him. ;)

Heh -- hey, I LOVE musical theater (I used to do musical theater as a kid), I'm just saying...The Tony's are like the Soap Opera Digest Awards in-terms of excitment level, ie. none. But that's just my opinion -- if you love the Tony's -- get down with your bad self and rock on!

ha. No, you're right. The Tony's are insanely boring normally, which is why I felt Hugh deserved to win. He made it fun and watchable, but you'd have to have seen it to appreciate that.

I loved your Emmy rantings so far.

Sincerly,
Your dear friend and loyal LJ reader,
765 (which is also her age) time Emmy Award Winner,
Doris Roberts~

You have HDTV?

God I hate you.

I hate my sister too. And I helped put together her movie room with 80" screen. Well, just the screen, but still!

And no one told me the emmys were on tonight. :(

Aww -- maybe you can download the highlights! Don't hate HDTV owners -- suck-up to them so they will invite you over!

My sister is the only one who is HDTV capable. And we usually watch movies anyway.

My friends are poor and married. I'm just poor. :(

Oh and wait, Tara's not coming back this season? Dammit no one tells me anything! No wonder they gave Alan Shore a new love interest at the end of the season. Getting rid of the original Lara Croft is a crime. :(

By the way, since you were tracking who was hot...do you know who that woman was that was dancing in the audience during the opening number? Reddish-blonde long hair...pinkish-red slinky dress...I thought she looked good but I had no idea who it was.

Debra Messing! Who I cited as hot! Heh...she was cute, she's always cute.

I've always thought Debra Messing was cute; hence, I'd have recognized her.

Anyway, I think I figured it out. It was your criticized Marg "Miss Collagen" Helgenberger. I thought she looked good. :- )

Some real fucking victories in there. Particularly the Arrested Development one - it's about bloody time that show got some recognition. What's the deal with it - has it been dropped? Is it getting a third series? No-one talks about it in Scotland, it's totally on the graveyard slot on a barely watched channel.

And yes, this year has been all about the Lost. Just watched the last three episodes last night, while the plebs are still at episode 8 on satellite. What a show.

Anyway, thanks for the update! No coverage of the Emmys over here, so it's good to know.

Arrested Development starts Season 3 tonight in the US (so you should be able to find episodes online if you get stuff that way). It is the best show on TV -- and I really don't understand why it has such a small audience -- I think people are afraid it isn't accessible, when the truth is -- it is VERY accessible and appeals to a very wide audience.

I'm glad you enjoyed the update!
