Up In The Aether Con

Memorial Day is always a huge convention weekend, and my con of choice for the past few years was World Steam Expo in Dearborn, MI. Well, that convention has sadly gone defunct, but it's risen from the ashes less than a mile away as Up In The Aether ConUITA is at the same hotel ConFusion's moved to; it's a very nice space, with enough room to do ( Read more... )

Strawberry Festival at the local winery Saturday morning, the Glo Run (blacklights and glowsticks and blinkies, oh my!) Saturday night, then hopefully an easygoing Sun & Mon, getting caught up on some shows (maybe FINALLY starting 'Sherlock'!!) and just rellllaaaxing.

Have a great con and everyone have a great weekend!

So did World Steam Expo change into Up In the Aether or is it a whole new set of people? Anyway, I hope you have a great time.

I have someone coming to look at my AC unit on Saturday because Sunday when it was hot, it wasn't working right. It worked fine on Mon and Tues but I'm still having it checked out just in case. Monday I'm having my air ducts cleaned and hopefully checked for leaks. For fun I'm going to try and go grilling weather permitting and taking it easy.

My brother should be coming up next week for his birthday so I'll be visiting our parents then. That should be fun. The sad news is our parents' cat is seriously ill and probably won't make it to when we visit.

A lot of the same people. Good luck with the AC, have fun with the family. And I am very sorry about their cat.

I'm glad they were able to bring it back in some form. I have a morbid curiousity about how a convention dies (there's one here some of us are convinced it's on its last legs). Years ago I started going to one anime convention that lasted 3 years before having to disband for financial/legal reasons.

At this point I'm hopful about the AC since it has been working. This will be more of a pre-summer tune-up than repairs. It's the duct cleaning that should be interesting since I suspect there are some leaks in the system.

Forgot to say that I hope you have a great time this weekend!

That reminds me, are you ever going to do steampunk songs? I like the genre but there's damn few fun steampunk songs. Lots of moody depressing dismal goth songs using synths, but rare is the fun song using period-sounding or steam-powered instruments.

Yep. Slowly working on some stuff, in parallel with everything else. I might try performing one or two this weekend.

I could certainly do some of those. Literally the only one I'd have a problem with is "Tooned Within A Hare". That's one I don't feel I did a good job on, and one I might reimagine soon. A number of the others will for sure be in one set or the other -- just remind me. Don't go overboard. :)

Seanan McGuire is the writer GOH, and it turns out she's giving a concert Saturday night. Woohoo!

I'll be there too; we live just north of Clermont, so we'll be in the hotel across the street (husband forgot to book the con hotel and when he checked last week it was full)
