Star Wars Day, Free Comic Book Day

May the Fourth be with you. (Of course, for us purists, the real Star Wars Day is May 25th. But it's not much of a pun.)

Tomorrow, I go to my sister's graduation -- yay! Then I head off to Novi: I'll be performing at Comic City for a Free Comic Book Day event. The address is 43538 W. Oaks Drive, Novi, MI -- basically, in the far back corner of ( Read more... )

Relaxing! (and definitely needed after this week.)

I have an aunt in town for the first time in years and I am seeing her for brunch on Sunday morning.

Sunday evening, my old scout troop is doing their annual fund raising spaghetti dinner/chinese auction, which I plan to attend.

Forgot on the list - working on the Concertino 2012 CD. I have started to contact the 2012 guests (and the Conterpoint 2013 guests) for their contributions and its going to be interesting.

Worked today (about 6.5 hours of the 4 I was supposed to do). Chores (wash/dry laundry, vacuum carpets, run dishwasher) and a potluck dinner tomorrow (I'm bringing balsamic strawberries, currently macerating in the fridge). Sunday I have no clue yet.

Star Wars. Huh! To true and faithful fans, May 4 marks the anniversary of the fight at Reichenbach Falls between Sherlock Holmes and Professor James Moriarty in 1891 - which led to the deaths of both men (as it was believed at the time).

I have an Art and Wine festival to attend tomorrow (it's just a mile up the street, a comfy bike ride). And some broccoli greens to harvest already.

Yes, well. That is, as they say, a different Canon than Star Wars. In the interests of intellectual debate, I must point out the chronicles of the Reichenbach Falls fight as detailed in the public archives of The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, as well as the didn't-actually-happen explanation posited at the end of The Seven Per Cent Solution. Although those are both independent studies and their veracity is subject to doubt, they are intriguing alternatives.

Well, I begin my May shift on Sunday. This week I had Mon & Tue off. Next week I will have Sun and Sat off. So I get up at 5 AM for the last time tomorrow, then I get one day off, then I start working 9 to 6 instead of the current 7:30 to 4:30. It will be nice being able to sleep i a little bit, especially since I never successfully changed my sleep habits to match April's shift...

Weekend looks weekend-like.

I got my Avengers fix tonight and am well satisfied. One non-spoilery thing: there are both a stinger scene (early in the credits) and an Easter-egg scene (allll the way at the end of the credits).

I will also observe that I saw the film in 2D -- and I predict that if you see it in 3D, you may find yourself trying to climb over heaps of holographic post-battle debris as you leave the theater. (If you plan to see it in IMAX, you may find yourself wishing you'd worn body armor at certain points....)
