Yep, yep and yep. Reproductive control is how you take away self-determination for women, and so much more. I was born here, but by golly, I will start the process to move elsewhere (probably back to where my dad is from, and where I grew up) if this and the other crap (a nice, mild word for it) currently in the works happens.

Oh and they definitely need to be taxed to hell (pun intended) and back.

I'm not particularly coherent these days on the topic of why my rights are my rights, and them and their imaginary friend do not get to take them away. It just blows my mind.

as I commented the other day in my LJ, this *is* a matter of religious freedom. That of the *women* not that of the employer ( ... )

Nuns might take the Pill after all, if the choice was PCOS or other medical conditions, and I've heard a rumour that nuns in war-torn areas (like Congo and certain Central American countries) were put on the Pill at various points because of the, uh, irregulars' habit of raping nuns and the Catholic Church's unwillingness to deal with the offspring therefrom.

This is one I think I'd pretty well literally die for; I don't want kids*, I'm not willing to end my partnered sex life now, and I'm also not willing to go back to the kind of agony I suffer from menstruation (we're talking "one end over the toilet, the other over the bathtub" kind of stuff) without benefit of hormonal BC.

Fortunately, I live in Canada, and the overt theocrats haven't come for us yet.

* I've known this for sure since I was 13, and tomorrow is my 37th birthday. And my reasons have only gotten stronger since then.

That's one thing many people on the other side don't admit, that the pill isn't just about birth control it also includes regulating the menstruation cycle. A woman, even one who abstains from sex, can have a legitimate need for the pill.

Hi, been there, done that, got turned down by a pharmacist for not wearing my ring. He even tried to keep the paper to keep me from being Immoral. (that lasted about as long as it took to write this post, aka, the time it took me to start to dial the police for theft... but I had to go esewhere to get my medicine.
