The Great Migration Begins...?

Dreamwidth has, for the time being, turned off their invite codes. They're also working on a community import feature from LJ to DW. You can sign up here.

I set up a Dreamwidth account and imported my LJ over there back with the LiveTwitFace crossposting fiasco occurred. (Just friended ya over there, BTW)

I let my LJ revert to free this year, and it just seems like it's getting worse with every change...

I signed up over there just in case there is a filk migration there.

Speaking of filk, how are your projects going? I'm going through your albums to revise my playlist and rediscovered a classic, "Walking Along the Beach". Have you thought about doing it again? I remember last week on the Fump podcast someone commented that most artists are "embarrassed" about their earlier works. Is that true?

Nope, not embarrassed at all. I find myself quite fortunate that, when I go back and listen to my earlier stuff, it usually holds up decently well. I can only presume it's luck.

On the other hand, this has been a very bad year for me finishing, or even starting, projects. So many things I wanted to have done, and I simply haven't been able to wrangle the physical or emotional energy to do them. I'm trying right now to finish getting about six concerts uploaded that I wanted to have up almost three weeks ago, and really should've had a month before that. Something's gotta give soon, and I hope it's not me.

Yeah, most of it does hold up pretty well. The stuff that doesn't is usually songs about technology (On the PC, Online Religion) or mention celebrities. The filk songs hold up well because you pick SF that will stay in the minds of fans for a long time. (Then again Hollywood rehashing everything again doesn't hurt. The only good thing about the smurfs movie is that new fans will get Smurfin Safari.) And of course there's the quality of the work has always been above average ( ... )

I have my Dw account set up to auto-crosspost to LJ...I only wander over here to read the journals that haven't migrated yet.

I noticed something funny though. The new lj comments script takes a lot longer to load than I'd expect, and poking around the code it's making odd calls... I can't say for sure [I don't read Russian ] but it looks like it's calling some sort of tracking thing...

Anyone who wants to find me over at DW, I'm Wyld_Dandelyon there too.

I haven't yet gotten to the point of posting there first and simply cross-posting here, but I fear that day is coming.
