This is a wonderful character study of Kaneko! I loved how you explored her side as a volleyball player--not often discussed in fic--and I think I'm going to incorporate a lot of the backstory here into my personal fanon for her. XD I really like how she remains resolute despite peer pressure from other girls (ha, at the mention of the banana diet) and also how she knows exactly how to manipulate Mitani. It's very cute that they end up going to the same high school too!

I thought the volleyball aspect was key to understanding her, as seriously as kids take their clubs in Japan. I mean, she *misses* a major go tournament because she's busy with volleyball, so it's not a casual commitment to her.

Ha, I remember when my Japanese teaching partner for phys. ed was lecturing the girls about the banana diet. I couldn't follow all of the lecture, but I don't think she was in favor of it! :)

Kaneko's strong, which is good for Mitani. He needs a firm hand. XD
