I'm glad it's good so far - and yay for the National Express free wifi! I've loved that going up to Edinburgh.

I hope the Lincoln visit goes well!

I'm glad to hear the job is working out, long may it continue. Well, as long as the contract runs, anyway :)

I remember fondly the free Wi-Fi on the train back from one of the Glasgow cons (probably the 2005 worldcon) on GNER ... it was a slow connection, but it really helped the time fly past and let me blog about the con ...

... I went up Virgin first class (free snacks, free drink, free booklet with sights you could see from the train along the route!) and came back GNER (free wi-fi!) and each service had its merits and that was definitely the right way around. And because of when I got around to booking, it was only £5 more than the standard class return :-)

Lots of people have said bad things about Virgin Trains, and I haven't used them very much, but I've never had a bad experience with them (and when I missed my train going up to one of the cons because my tube was delayed coming into Euston, the Virgin helpdesk at Euston transferred my "non-transferrable" ticket to the next train with no charge (while the online booking people wanted to charge me £110 for a new single ticket).
