So the new job is going well. It's really interesting work and the people are nice. We have a shed load (or several shed loads actually) of work to do in a very short time frame but there's a nice "all hands to the pump mentality" so it's all good.
Currently I'm making the most of the free Wifi on a train! I'm off up to Lincoln for the day to see the Northern half of the project. I'm not involved in this bit as I am managing the rollout of the southern half, but it's a good idea for me to go up and meet everybody because all the server stuff is shared between the two. So I got up at 5:50 this morning and was on a train into Waterloo by 6:35. The commuter train to london was predictably shabby, but this National Express service to Newcastle (I'm getting off at Newark), is really nice and I've managed to snag a table seat and plenty of room to get the laptop out!
I think this wifi on the train thing is a bit of a result! Especially as I don't have VPN setup on this laptop yet so I can't really do any work. Shame that just leaves surfing the net to while away the next 40 minutes or so...
