Draco shook his father's hand, then nodded at his mother. He wasn't quite angry any longer, but he wasn't ready to beg her forgiveness yet either. Still, she was his mother, and she deserved all that the office warranted.

That included finding something spectacular for her for mother's day. He hoped he'd succeeded.

So far, things had gone well, if still a touch cool between he and his mother. The game of chess had been brilliant, a testament to the closeness he and his mother had once shared. He wanted that again. At least, he thought he did.

Still, he didn't need to focus on that. It was Mother's day.

"Thank you. Mother, you were exceptional." He said to each parent in turn. Then, with Malfoy smirk in place, he picked up his wand and levitated a box into the room and settled it onto the table. Impeccably wrapped as always, inside, it held a magical compass.

"I imagine it's time for gifts then?"

The day was perfect; there was nothing she enjoyed more then spending time with her husband and her son. All current concerns and issues seemed to have been ignored or at least minimized between the three as they played chess against each other. She had surprised herself at her quick strategizing and her win. She knew that Lucius must have been more distracted then normal to not predict the different moves that resulted in success, succinct games for both Draco and herself. She felt extremely content, and teased Lucius slightly with a smirk that Draco inherited, "You should have expected nothing less from fellow Slytherins, especially Malfoys ( ... )

Lucius raised an eyebrow at her, "You can be confident with Draco picking up on the attacks you didn't notice, the traps you almost walked in to," he narrowed his eyes at her then smiled, "when you play me alone, Narcissa Malfoy, I'll allow you your smirking ( ... )

His mother's words stung more than he expected them to. Had she truly expected him to not give her a gift? What did she take him for? A complete cretin? Just because he didn't agree with her hadn't meant he'd ( ... )
