Stella hadn't noticed the letter at first, being rather upset when she returned to the castle. She'd spent some time trying to focus on other things- preparing for class, marking exams- anything to keep her mind off of what had happened at the Ministry this afternoon.
Eventually, though, she'd had to let her thoughts out, and had just closed her journal when the invitation on top of her desk caught her attention.
Picking it up, Stella looked curiously at the Malfoy crest for a moment. It wasn't as though she hadn't accepted invitations to Malfoy Manor in the past- there was the ball this past summer, as well as the dinnerthey'd hosted for the staff last year.
However, those had been large events, and a tea was decidedly not. Still, though, Stella did not immediately throw the invitation into the fireplace. Glancing at the 'bracelet' that now adorned her left wrist, Stella paused, thinking for a few minutes before she found a blank piece of parchment and picked up her quill.
(back dated to just after the owl arrives, February 25, 2002)
The persistent owl found Millicent working late at The Ministry. When she opened the invitation she could not hide her excitement and pleasure. Surely the timing of this small gathering could not be coincidental. No indeed, she was most hopeful that this “tea” would not only give her a chance to see Narcissa, but that Narcissa was gathering help for Lucius’ upcoming election. Millicent wanted to help on all levels - but especially publicly with Narcissa leading the way. It was the best cover she could imagine for any clandestine activities she and her other “friends” might embark on….
She immediately left the Registry desk in the less than capable hands of the next Auror who passed so she could answer by return owl.
Narcissa
Thank you for your kind invitation for the 28th. I accept with pleasure and look forward to seeing you.
Yours MillicentShe would get off early on Thursday if she had to use some of her hard-won points with Under Secretary Umbridge to do it

Initially, Isadora was quite surprised to receive the invitation, but when she contemplated the manner, idly tracing the elaborate script with her pointer finger, she decided that it really wasn't all that unexpected.
Always remember appearances, her mother would always tell her--very hypocritical considering that the woman had been a complete recluse, but it was still good advice.
Chewing pensively on her lower lip, Isadora seized a quill and a piece of parchment, immediately scribing a response.
Mrs. Malfoy;
Thank you very much for the invitation. I am both honored and grateful that you would wish to include me in this event, and shall most definitely attend this Thursday.
