Rating: Being as it’s in a pet shop anything over PG-13 would be a bit gross :P

The bell above the door rang, and Aurin glanced up from the "Help Wanted" sign he was working on. He and Toviel were barely managing to cover all shifts at the store and still work at the Ministry, and they needed at least one, preferably two, trustworthy assistants to watch over things in case they couldn't be there. Today, for instance, Aurin was still wearing the black pants, white collared shirt, and red vest that went under the Auror's robes currently hanging on a hook behind the counter, not having had time to change after getting back from Magical Law Enforcement HQ minutes ago ( ... )

Medea blinked in the aftermath of the red flash. Those things were annoying, and occasionally played havoc with her vision in the wrong light. As her eyes adjusted to the shops interior, she looked around. There was a solitary occupant, working on something behind the counter. He looked up at the flash, revealing two scars across his cheeks, and smiled in greeting. She returned the smile, without staring, well practised at ignoring things that usually held peoples attention ( ... )

Though he caught the glance toward his official robes, Aurin thought nothing of it, having grown used to it in the past months. He started ringing up the purchases, pausing to show her the nearly-finished flier when she inquired about it. "It's a help-wanted poster. My brother and I could use a few extra hands around here, especially with the before-school rush coming up."

He put the poster back down and finished ringing her up. Unable to resist the urge to continue the conversation, he asked, "So how many cats do you have? Just the one?"
