She came through the Leaky Cauldron every day she had work. Dora wasn't
much of a witch, and she had never had enough skill to work in the Ministry,
or the desire to work among other magical folk where she'd be looked down on
for her less than brilliant abilities. Instead, she worked at a muggle
supermarket. It paid enough, and she could work in London and live in
Diagon, keeping herself a part of the magical world that she wanted to be
more fully a part of.

Her arms were full of groceries. More kids sort of stuff. It had been
brilliant -- the god of luck had smiled on her when her late night
spying on Oliver's cottage had yielded the best prize ever.

WINIWho would have thought that she'd just come walking outside? It was as ( ... )

The sweet scent jarred him back to a reality he hadn't noticed he'd left. All these hours fighting his body's natural desire to rest were going to catch up to him. That was not the first time he'd spaced out today; but he was upright and wide awake the moment he caught the smell of perfume. There, that was it ( ... )

Dora lived on the far side of Diagon. She made her way down the streets,
walking as cool as a cucumber, hardly believing that anyone would suspect
her. She'd been Oliver's biggest fan, but she did not think that many
people could recognize her. Now that she kept her Quaffle earrings off, she
was hardly conspicious. Just another woman with a bag of groceries, going
to a run down flat.

No one paid attention to her. No one really cared. But Oliver would. He
would. Oh, he would. She giggled as she walked quickly down the path, not
noticing the man following her. She turned a corner and began walking
farther, whistling to herself. Maybe Wini would be behaved enough so that
Dora didn't have ot keep force feeding her that sleeping draught....
Oh! She'd have to buy more potion supplies. Perhaps after she'd
checked on Winifred... Precious Winifred... His -- no, theirWinifred ( ... )

He stopped at the bottom of the stairs. She was already half a flight up, and now he needed to regroup.

She'd turned and looked at him-directly at him-and he'd kept his pace, turning his slightly to feign staring off in some other direction. But he wasn't sure if she had fallen for it; not yet, anyway. Still, she wasn't rushing up the steps.

He counted the next half-flight.

He was nuts, tailing some woman he didn't know, with the hopes that her perfume was the very same used to spray her letters. It hadn't been the first tactic on the list when he'd decided how to approach the woman, should he actually find her. But being straight with her would not have worked; what would he say? He could ask questions about Wini, but she could lie, and nothing would be accomplished. He needed to get close; he needed to see her with the girl ( ... )

A quick scan assured him that, for the moment, at least, there were no other wizards or witches in the area other than the five of them. Or rather, four and a half, since Severus thought Winifred's magic was likely stronger than the almost-squib woman standing paralysed against the door frame!

Severus could no longer ignore the dull mewling sounds from in the room, so he slipped past Remus and the kidnapper to find Winifred. Even from a distance, her appearance was alarming. Her clothes were dirty and unkempt, her nappy stank as though it hadn't been tended to all day (which it probably hadn't), and her skin was pale and waxy, as though she was suffering mild dehydration.

Quickly spotting the cauldron, Severus stopped there, first, to try to ascertain what had been brewed in it. This was pathetically easy to do, because it had not been properly cleaned after use. Or rather, after many uses, from the looks of it. He suspected with enough time he could determine, in chronological order, every potion that had ever been brewed in ( ... )

Oliver had been with Auror Eleanor Popplewaite when the news had come on in his journal. He had leaves in his hair from the Forbidden Forest. He had not been able to keep himself away from there, no matter how many times he had searched it. If he stayed too long in the house than he would have to deal with June trying to force him to eat and to rest. He knew that she was just trying to help him. Somewhere in the back of his mind he appreciate it, though he couldn't wrap his mind around her actions. She had not been around when he had come back to the house, and Oliver realized that the sun was almost setting. Curfew had come for her. But, she probably would be back tomorrow ( ... )

Shite!

There had been no time to ask questions or consider alternatives, of course, but now, Severus was kicking himself for not planning better! He should have realised Wood was going to come right away, too. Was that not the intention?

However, he had not considered the possibility - even the likelihood that the idiot would have a bloody Auror in tow! He glanced up from the limp child in his arms to exchange a wary glance with Derrick and Remus. There was no WAY Severus was going to allow any of them to be incarcerated for being out after the bloody curfew over this. He offered the slightest nod of his head, trying to communicate to them that he had a 'contingency' plan.

The imbecilic Gilderoy Lockhart was not the only one who knew how to use Oblivation Charms! Severus knew how to do them with subtletyFor the moment, he ignored the Auror. He couldn't answer any of her stupid questions, anyway, though he did want to hear the answers, himself. Instead, he directed his attention back to Oliver Wood ( ... )

Oliver was holding Wini close to his chest, and she gave quiet cries against his arm. "Wini, its okay..." He jiggled her gently before Snape's words began sinking into his mind. He turned to face the man, slowly. "Poisoning?" His eyes grew huge and he looked down at his daughter. "No. No, no no no." He swallowed, taking the vial. "Home. Right. Home." Snape's instructions swirled around in his mind as he tried to focus. "Fluids. Joos-juice, broth... Six hours.. Don't forget... Two days..." his eyes swam. "Ginny. Right. Okay."

"Hold on," said the Auror quickly. "Yes -- I understand you need to get her home, but why doesn't someone tell me what is going on here? Who is this woman? Who found Winifred Wood?"
