Instead of saying simply "Esteem Bachelor / Bachlorette" the letter also in includes their name... The owls refuse to move until given a response to take back to Calliope, well trained beasts that they are....

Dear Miss Chesilwick,

While I am flattered to have been included in both your list and the guest list for this event, I will be unable to assist you with your proposed auction.

At this time, I am uncertain whether my duties at Hogwarts will allow for my attendence at the dinner at all. Halloween night has often been made much of at the school in the past and it would be unfair to my students were I to not be here during their own celebrations, seeing to their enjoyment and safety. I will need to address this issue with the Headmistress before I can committ to attendence in good conscience. However, if you will provide me with the details, I would be more than happy to make a donation myself.
