oh, this is great - funny, and very in character (I love Rodney's eventual "whatever" attitude toward the genderfuck hijinx) and just all-around cool. I love that you made them intersex instead of unproblematically changing their sexes completely - it made the whole thing much more interesting.

also, I wanted to give three cheers for the little essay you wrote, as well. hear, hear.

One of my gripes with a lot of the genderswap stories I've read is when switched protagonists are inevitably very attractive in very stereotypical ways. I wanted things to be less cut-and-dried, more awkward, and even when people were attractive in their rearranged bodies (in my mind, Ronon and Cadman looked the best), I didn't necessarily want to be because they were "passable."

I'm glad the more complicated version -- and the nod to the complication that exist in reality -- appealed to you.

This was hilarious! Whee! I loved the tranny marine and the closeted lesbians and Rodney's safe sex speech and the ftm nerds! :D

Rodney's kinda-homophobic Pride Parade comment was interesting, more IC than I'd like it to be...

And yes, good afterword. :)

Yes, it's funny - there were definitely things in the story (like Rodney's reaction to Parrish) that might have pushed some of my political buttons if I hadn't spent so much time talking to you about these issues! Because I knew we share that investment in queer and trans politics, I was able to read that stuff as comment on character (and, y'know, funny :) ) much more easily than I would have had someone else written it... which makes me wonder whether I should give other genderswap more of the benefit of the doubt. But, well, I probably won't ( ... )

I like the idea of SGA much more than the show itself in general

This is exactly my reaction -- as far as I can tell, the SGA fandom is fueled by what the show could be (genius), rather than by what it consistently is (entertaining, sometimes very good, intermittently clunky as hell).

But that's always been one of my personal perversions.

Hey, I'm all about queering the queers. *laughs* That's an awesome compliment to get, particularly because I opted for the more complicated version of genderswap because it interested me more, without really considering its ramifications re: hotness. But yeah, I think my tastes are similar to yours -- I've always been turned on by sex (real, fantasy, or fictitious) where people focus on producing the most pleasure in their partner's body, ignoring (or purposefully manipulating) potential meanings of those bodies and those acts.

I can't count the number of times I had to stop and cackle while hitting my desk repeatedly. Oh god, this was great.

*grin* Whenever I read a deeply funny story (c.f. lots of Pru's), I tend to do a lot of chortling, squeaking, bouncing, and handwaving. It's really cool to know I prompted that kind of reaction from someone else. Thanks for reading. :)
