Last Night's Fun

Although The Galway Tribes is a bit of a drive from Oak Park, it is a great place for a session. The beer was grand, the crowd was enthusiastic, and the tunes were awesome. Declan, Pat, Davey, ottery and myself sat around for a few hours, playing and enjoying each other's company. The pub is beautiful and is fairly new. The owner truly loves the music, ( Read more... )

"The crowd was enthusiastic" means "They clapped and cheered, and then they bought us drinks."
It was a grand time and a good complement to the house party on Jan. 1 where we played old time music in the office and ate bean soup, bread and cheese.

The drinks notwithstanding, the owner brought two no-arm chairs for us to sit in, practically as we walked in the door. And the people there were requesting songs... and clapping in time, no less.

Also, the surprise Guinness that the bartender poured for me was an additional bonus. Just be glad he didn't assume that you wanted another, dear. :)

Heh ... you know I'm just pulling your long, gangly leg. I had no clue a no-arm chair was such an important thing for you. I mean, me, sure, because otherwise, I bonk my guitar on the arms, but you don't even use them.

It's an elbow thing. You wouldn't think it, but arms on chairs are evil for fiddlers.
